Missing teeth replacement options:
If you are missing a tooth, or several teeth, or if you are in need of having a tooth removed you have three choices for replacing your tooth/teeth.
1. Implants - single or multiple teeth replacements. A titatinum root and a porcelain tooth (crown) are placed. There is a healing period of 4-6 months involved. Once placed, this is permanent and is not removed to clean. It is treated as a natural tooth.
2. Bridges - The space must be between two other teeth. A metal and porcelain bridge is cemented to prepared (drilled and precisely reshaped) teeth on each side of the space. The bridge is cemented permanently and looks and functions as a natural tooth.
3. Partial Dentures - replaces single or, more commonly, multiple missing teeth. Partials are made from either metal and acrylic or a flexible plastic. They are retained in the mouth by small arms (clasps) that attach to other natural teeth or gums. They must be removed daily to clean to clean the gums and teeth under them.
Each option carries different procedures and time frames. We want our patients to be fully informed about each option and the appointments and fees associated to be able to make an informed choice.
